Roslindale Open Studios
Take your kids on an art adventure and view the works of local painters, photographers, potters, jewelers and more on display in studios and businesses throughout Roslindale Village. Plus, kids get in on the art-making action with free recycled art activities!
When: Nov. 7-8, 11am – 5pm; artmaking activities run from 11am – 3pm

Backstage to Balcony
The Boston Lyric Opera, New England's largest opera company, is opening its doors for a behind-the-scenes experience for all ages. Go on a backstage tour and check out dressing rooms, the make-up area and the stage. Don some costumes and model for the camera. Witness a transformation through the magic of stage make-up. Hear talented teens compete in the BLO's first-ever Aria Contest. Decorate your very own pair of opera glasses and then enjoy a live performance of your favorite opera selections.

Jack and the Beanstalk
Enjoy this musical version of the classic fairytale performed by Kaleidoscope Children's Theatre. When Jack sells Matilda the Cow for some invisible magic beans, his mother is upset. But when the beanstalk grows, Jack climbs it to seek his fortune. Now he'll need your help to defeat the giant and to help his mother believe in dreams again.

Build A Toy
Learn how to saw, drill, measure, rivet, bend and sand as you and your child make a wooden "grace," one of America's oldest toys, in this step-by-step introduction to woodworking for parents and kids. After you build your toy, use the techniques you've learned – and your imagination – to create unique free-form wood sculptures!
