Vistas del Pueblo: Images of Community from Nicaraguan Villages
<p>The Angel Art Program was founded as a way to help some of the poorest communities in Nicaragua by teaching children and adults how to create, exhibit, and sell their artwork locally and abroad. This exhibit is an extraordinary collection of work by artists of all ages, unified by strong cultural roots, revelry in color, and an inspiring sense of optimism in the face of poverty. The gallery is open during normal business hours, Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. It is also open evenings and weekends when other programs are in session. LOCATION: Springstep, 8 George P. Dreaming Cows by Betty LaDuke
<p>Dreaming Cows was inspired by artist Betty LaDuke's trips to Heifer projects around the world. Heifer transforms lives by providing the gift of livestock and training. Through brilliantly colored images, Dreaming Cows takes visitors on a journey from the Bronx to Bolivia, and from Vietnam to Kosovo. Tru Grace: Holiday Memoirs
<p>Two holiday stories are adapted for the stage in a double bill of Grace Paley's The Loudest Voice and Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory playing at Central Square Theater Thurs., Nov. 19 through Sun., Dec. 27. Joyful and rich with humor, both stories are set in the 1930s and told from the point of view of children; one a girl from the Bronx, the other a boy from Alabama. Celebrate the Season at Stone Zoo's
<p>Stroll along tree-lined paths lit by thousands of twinkling lights. Upon entering the Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham, guests will visit Yukon Creek, which not only features dazzling holiday lights but is also home to bald eagles, porcupines, lynx, a gray fox and reindeer. Anne of Green Gables
<p>The Weston Friendly Society&rsquo;s production of Anne of Green Gables: The Musical brings one of the most beloved family books to life. The production is sure to be a hit with the entire family! Make-A-Wish Holiday Wish-A-Thon
<p>Saturday, November 28 - Friday, December 11, Food Court of the Prudential Center. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island will have a booth stationed at the Food Court entrance where information about the mission and stories of wish children will be shared, and gift items will be available for purchase to support the wish-granting program. On Thursday, December 10 and Friday, December 11, 103.3 WODS FM will broadcast the Make-A-Wish Holiday Wish-A-Thon live from the Food Court.</p>

Gingerbread Festival
<p>Visit the Gingerbread Festival during this year's Marblehead Christmas Walk. Over 100 gingerbread creations on display in the Historic Lee Mansion, 161 Washington St., Marblehead. Community members, businesses, and families are building and donating dozens of gingerbread houses, which will be on display and available for raffle throughout the weekend. Kol HaNeshamah Day School Music Festival
<p>Students will raise their voices to promote healing in the world at Kol HaNeshama, the Day School Music Festival, at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 6, at Gann Academy, 333 Forest St., Waltham. Hosted by Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston, the event will also include performances by students from South Area Solomon Schechter Day School, Jewish Community Day School and Gann Academy. Chanukah Crafts Event for Families
<p>Get ready for Chanukah as you create special Chanukah treasures to bring home and light up the holiday at Sketch-a-roo (300 Eliot Street) in Ashland on Sunday, December 6. Sign up for one of two sessions, 10-11 am for children 2-3; 11:15-12:15pm for children 4-5. Cost is $10 per child, which includes materials. The program is open to the entire community.
