<p>New England's acclaimed, international traveling youth circus presents Smirkus Ever After: A Big Top Fairytale. Smirkus turns the pages on Aesop, Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, bringing classic stories to life through the spectacle, enchantment of circus. Performers ages 10-18 dazzle crowds with astounding aerials, clever clowning, mind-boggling juggling, amazing acrobatics. <p>The Angel Art Program was founded as a way to help some of the poorest communities in Nicaragua by teaching children and adults how to create, exhibit, and sell their artwork locally and abroad. This exhibit is an extraordinary collection of work by artists of all ages, unified by strong cultural roots, revelry in color, and an inspiring sense of optimism in the face of poverty. The gallery is open during normal business hours, Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. It is also open evenings and weekends when other programs are in session. LOCATION: Springstep, 8 George P. <p>Dreaming Cows was inspired by artist Betty LaDuke's trips to Heifer projects around the world. Heifer transforms lives by providing the gift of livestock and training. Through brilliantly colored images, Dreaming Cows takes visitors on a journey from the Bronx to Bolivia, and from Vietnam to Kosovo. <p>Two holiday stories are adapted for the stage in a double bill of Grace Paley's The Loudest Voice and Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory playing at Central Square Theater Thurs., Nov. 19 through Sun., Dec. 27. Joyful and rich with humor, both stories are set in the 1930s and told from the point of view of children; one a girl from the Bronx, the other a boy from Alabama. <p>Stroll along tree-lined paths lit by thousands of twinkling lights. Upon entering the Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham, guests will visit Yukon Creek, which not only features dazzling holiday lights but is also home to bald eagles, porcupines, lynx, a gray fox and reindeer. Children will want to make sure they visit with Santa, who awaits their arrival in Santa’s Castle. Jolly Old St. Nick will be available for photos through Dec. 23. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island will have a booth stationed at the Food Court entrance where information about the mission and stories of wish children will be shared, and gift items will be available for purchase to support the wish-granting program.
