IGFA offers a one of a kind experience for children who want to get up close and interactive with the outdoor environments that South Florida offers. Our spring and summer week-long camp adventures are available for boys and girls ages 7 - 13. Campers spend each Monday and Tuesday at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum where they catch bass, catfish and bream in our surrounding ponds, learn about different fishing techniques, explore the aquatic conservation field, learn about marine biology, tie your own flies & jigs, and participate in simulated fishing tournaments. Wednesday through Friday are field trip days that take the campers around the tri-county region via coach bus on a variety of fresh and salt water adventures: pier and shore fishing trips, Everglades exploration, encounters with alligators, manatees, whales, dolphins and much more. Every Friday the camp travels to Miami to deep-sea fish on a USCG licensed head boat which also serves as a floating classroom while catching, identifying and observing various fish species.
The highly interactive and hands-on camp program at the IGFA gives children the opportunity to have fun in a unique setting while being educated on local habitats and sustainable environmental practices. During the week-long experience, campers will discover the importance of the different fresh and salt water habitats for both humans and wildlife.
We pride ourselves on making sure that your children have the time of their lives while attending the IGFA Fishing Camps but we make safety our top priority. We limit the number of campers each week to 45 children and have a minimum ratio of adult instructors to children of 1:10. All instructors are CPR and First Aid certified and undergo strict state and federal background checks. Our instructors are certified marine specialists and possess degrees in the natural science fields with many holding advanced degrees in their respective fields.
All campers will receive a free t-shirt, goody bag, tackle box and fishing rod and reel combination which they will use throughout the week. Before/after care is available and pre-registration is required. We offer discounts for IGFA members, multi-week and/or multi-child registrations, and have early registration discounts (5/18/13 for Summer Camp) as well. To reserve a space, or for more information, please call (954) 924-4309 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
