Crisis in Mathematics and Science Education
There is a body of evidence that shows our nation's best schools are succeeding in bringing up performance in Reading and Writing, but still failing to demonstrate any significant improvement in Mathematics and Science. A common complaint heard from college professors around the country is that incoming students lack the complex reasoning skills necessary to be academically successful.
This constitutes a clear crisis. QuantumCamp LLC was created from the ground up to address this problem. We implement a wide range of teaching strategies that due to cost simply cannot be done at the majority of our nation's schools.

QuantumCamp LLC is dedicated to bringing the cost of high quality education down for all families. Typical learning centers charge on the range of $60 to $120 per hour per student for a classroom, pushing the average cost of courses upwards of $2000 for a 30 hour course.
Even with our most expensive courses, we manage to keep your costs far below a typical 30 hour course. All of our products represent an unbelievable price point when one considers the quality that we offer.
Concept stringing is a novel educational approach that Michael Finnegan and Ryan Nurmela have co-developed. It is the underlying method that we use in every course we develop, making each course a truly rich experience. Concept stringing answers the question of how developed minds learn best.
Establish a set of over-arching concepts that we would like our students to achieve.
Develop a series of primary concepts that logically and naturally follow each other, that when combined together form the over-arching concepts.
Develop a set of hands-on activities that will demonstrate on its own merits these series of primary concepts, developed not through lecture but socratic dialogue.
What distinguishes this methodology from other teaching methodologies, is the focus on conceptual development, rather than on the categorical development of a system of ideas or facts or standards. From it's inception, concept stringing is rooted in the practice of reasoning that a developed mind goes through to reach a conclusion.
Concept stringing is so effective that in our work with children as young as 8 years old we have found that not only do the children retain the conceptual knowledge of the hands-on activities, but that they retain the majority of the conceptual stringing. With older students aged 12 and up we find much higher rates of concept string retention, approaching near totality.
3 Key Components
Young adults learn best when doing. We take science and mathematics out of the textbooks and place it in the hands of our students. We avoid the lecture aspect of teaching and ask our students to do rather than listen. Students draw their own conclusions by collaborating with their peers.
When learned out of context, science and mathematics loses not just its motivation but also its future. QuantumCamp LLC sequences all of our activities to follow their natural conceptual development through time.
By connecting the mathematics to the physical concepts of science, our programs build the critical thinking skills needed to be successful in whatever that student chooses to do. Students learn to reason their way to the very same conclusions that humanity's greatest minds had to offer. In our AEGs students learn to take this reasoning to the next level.
