Wonder is the story of an ordinary 10-year-old boy, born with an extraordinary face and his experiences trying to enter a mainstream school in the 5th grade. Wonder explores the themes of bullying, empathy, kindness and ultimately acceptance. In a world, which isn’t always kind, this is a hopeful story about friendship and acceptance. Children are invited to submit a Wonder inspired drawing, painting or collage that embrace the themes of inclusiveness, kindness, courage and friendship for an Art Exhibition which will be on display all day. Artwork should be dropped off to the Newton Cultural Center no later than Wednesday, March 13. The public is invited to the entire reading or to parts that they particularly want to hear. The estimated schedule is: Part 1: 9-11:30am; Parts 2&3: Noon-1pm; Parts 4&5:1:30-3:30pm: Parts 6&7: 4-5:30pm; Part 8: 6-7:30pm. FREE (donations welcome). Refreshments , copies of the book and souvenirs will be for sale. Please bring a food donation for one of Newton’s Food Pantries.
