Opening: Giant Ocean Tank

On July 1, the New England Aquarium is re-opening its four story Giant Ocean Tank (GOT) and other adjacent exhibits after a nine month, $17 million renovation. The GOT is the home to a Caribbean coral reef exhibit. The new tank will be home to 2000 marine animals of about 140 species making it one of the most diverse aquatic exhibits in the world. Among its residents will be the stunning angelfish with its magnificent colors, the goofy and innocent-looking balloon fish with its not so innocent spikes tucked behind its eyes and the triangular-shaped cowfish with its ever so expressive eyes.

New England Reptile & Raptors Exhibits presents: Birds of Prey

$10, $8 members and ages 12 and under. Unlike the Verlociraptors of the movie "Jurassic Park" modern day raptors have feathers as well as scales and are known for their talons! Easily recognized birds of prey are a fascinating group of predators that few people fully understand. The lives of these "aerial hunters" will be the topic of natural history, biology, adaptations, habitats, poaching, falconry and the management of these animals in the wild and how the laws and regulations protect them.

Live owls, hawks, falcons and vultures await you up-close and personal!
